A Note from Dr. Outten

 

Hello! I’m Dr. Stephen Outten, and I’m thrilled to share a bit about my journey and passions with you.

I spent my formative years in the south suburbs of Chicago, where my love for learning and helping others first took root.
I pursued my undergraduate studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, before attending medical school at Des Moines University.

From there, I went on to complete my emergency medicine residency at Midwestern University in Chicago. In 2001, I began my career in emergency medicine in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where I honed my skills in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. After seven years of working as a hospital staff physician, I made the decision to transition into Locum Tenens work. This shift has allowed me the flexibility to continue practicing medicine across a variety of locations while balancing my personal passions.

Outside of medicine, I love to explore the world - hiking through scenic trails, cycling through new landscapes, or traveling abroad to immerse myself in different cultures. This balance between professional fulfillment and personal adventure helps me stay refreshed, energized, and focused on providing the best care to my patients.
